Who is responsible for your information?
This is the official website of Antony Coyne. Antony Coyne and Safe Harbour Publishing Ltd are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have a question about this policy or how your information is handled, email antony.coyne@safeharbourpublishing.co.uk.
Information that may be collected
The website does not currently include an active mailing-list form, account system or online shop. Personal information may still be received when you:
- contact Antony by email, including your name, email address and anything you include in your message;
- interact with linked services such as Amazon, Audible or social media platforms; or
- visit the website, when limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information and request logs may be processed for hosting, security and reliability.
How and why information is used
Information is used only where there is a lawful reason to do so. This may include:
- replying to messages and enquiries;
- keeping the website secure, available and working correctly;
- meeting legal or regulatory obligations; and
- sending book news and release updates where you have specifically chosen to subscribe.
The relevant lawful bases may be consent, legitimate interests, performance of a contract or compliance with a legal obligation, depending on the circumstances.
Mailing list
The mailing-list form is currently disabled. If it is enabled in the future, you will be told clearly what you are signing up to. MailerLite may be used to manage subscriptions and send occasional book news and release updates.
Subscription emails will only be sent with your consent. You will be able to unsubscribe at any time using the link included in each email or by contacting Antony. Unsubscribing will not affect the lawfulness of emails sent before you withdrew your consent.
Anonymous website analytics and hosting
This website uses privacy-friendly first-party analytics to understand which pages are viewed, which website or search service referred a visit, and whether a visitor follows a book link to Amazon or Audible. The analytics records the page path, the referring domain, the destination domain, the relevant book and format, and the date and time of the event.
The analytics system does not set advertising or analytics cookies, create visitor profiles, store names or email addresses, or retain IP addresses or browser identifiers. It is used for the legitimate interest of understanding whether the author website and book links are useful. Analytics records are automatically removed after 12 months.
The hosting provider may use essential technologies and process limited technical data to deliver the site, prevent abuse and maintain security. Essential technologies do not require consent where they are strictly necessary for the service you request.
The site uses Google Fonts to display its chosen typefaces. When a page loads, Google may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details. Google handles that information under its own privacy terms.
If cookies, advertising tools or more intrusive analytics are added later, this policy and the website’s consent controls will be updated before those tools are used.
Who information may be shared with
Personal information may be processed by trusted service providers where needed to operate the website or communicate with you. These may include the website hosting provider, email provider and, if enabled, MailerLite. Providers are permitted to use information only as needed to provide their services or meet their own legal obligations.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect legal rights, security or safety. Personal information is not sold.
Links to other websites
The website links to Amazon, Audible, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Safe Harbour Publishing. Those organisations operate their own websites and privacy practices. Their privacy policies apply once you follow an external link.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law will be relied upon.
How long information is kept
Information is kept only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including answering enquiries, maintaining appropriate records and meeting legal obligations. Mailing-list information, if collected, will be retained until you unsubscribe or it is no longer needed.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal information;
- ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
- ask for information to be erased or its use restricted;
- object to certain uses of your information;
- receive information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.
To exercise a right, email antony.coyne@safeharbourpublishing.co.uk. You may be asked for information needed to confirm your identity.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, please contact Antony first so the issue can be addressed. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint for current guidance.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the website, mailing-list arrangements or legal requirements change. The latest version and update date will always appear on this page.
